2012 Subscription €22 + 25 for “An Beacaire” which is now optional. If you became a member before Autumn 2011, please note that under current Federation rules your Affiliation and Insurance will have lapsed on January 1st also if you wish to continue with “An Beacaire” without interruption, then please contact Finbarr O’Callaghan, our Honorary Treasurer.

In the Press

Many of the bigger journals are now available as digital editions. This cuts down on the problem of high postage costs and slow delivery of these publications to Ireland. In particular the two main US publications; Bee Culture and the American Bee Journal are now available for digital subscription at a very low cost. You can take a look and see sample publications here: Bee Culture and ABJ.

Bee Craft, the main UK beekeeping publication has gone digital and 3 issues are available to view online free. Click here to have a look.

Queen rearing at Co. Cork association '09

A very successful queen rearing demonstration was organised and run by Noel Power at Co. Cork BKA during May '09. This resulted in the production of a large number of queen cells which were used to make up nucs for sale to beginners and some of which were distributed to members who had prepared colonies to mate them from. More about the queen rearing programme can be found here: Queen Rearing '09

Registration with the Department

Members are reminded that they should register with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food as primary food producers. The necessary form can be downloaded from here and should be returned to the Department.
